  • What are the benefits of heat therapy for back pain?

There are many forms of back pain, with lower back pain being the most common one. The Deep Heat range includes a heat spray, penetrating heat creams, regular and back heat patches, to help you to manage back pain effectively.

Heat increases blood flow to the affected area providing oxygen and nutrients to aid the healing process and help restore movement. Heat should be applied to the affected area where pain is felt to provide effective, targeted relief. Heat also helps to speed up injury rehab by applying a heat product after having performed cold therapy for approximately 72 hours post injury. Heat can also aid muscle warm-up when applied before exercise.

Do heat patches provide effective pain relief?

When a pack is opened and the patch is exposed to air, the heating properties are activated within 60 seconds. After placing the patch on the affected area you will notice the heating sensation and can deliver penetrating warmth for up to 8 hours*. Heat patches offer hands-free deep tissue warmth, with benefits that include:

    Relief from over-exertion
Heat is helpful in combating pain in muscles, and the back is home to several important muscle groups. Deep Heat products including Back Patches are a great addition to your medicinal cabinet, travelling kit, first aid kit or even your handbag to keep them in reach for when pain strikes.

Relief from stiffness and muscular knots
These types of pain include muscular strains and ongoing pain caused by stiffness resulting from sporting activities or over-worked muscles. Our back heat patches have your back pain covered as they are extra large is size to cover these larger areas.

    Relief muscle strains and stiffness
Many people experience back aches, strains, and stiffness at some point. Our back heat patches activate fast to help manage the pain of strains, sprains and stiffness providing muscular pain relief and are convenient, odourless and easy to use.

Can heat patches be worn under clothing?

They are odourless, gently adhere to the skin, and can be discretely worn under clothing. In fact, a heat patch can warm muscles for up to 8 hours*. Apply the heat patch where your muscle pain or joint stiffness exists and dress as normal avoiding any overtly tight clothing or objects that may catch. Also check our instructions of use for more tips.

How should you apply heated back patches?

Simply remove the protective film from the heat patch, and adhere it directly onto your back area. The patch will stick firmly on clean, dry skin. The iron oxide contained in the patch reacts within 60 seconds when it is exposed to air. Muscles, ligaments or joints will warm and become soothed and alleviate your pain.

Can you have a heat patch on for too long?

Heat patches should be used for a maximum of 8 hours.
    It is also advisable to:

    • avoid sleeping with heat patch
    • avoid applying continuous pressure to patch
    • avoid using multiple heat patches in the same area for 24 hours

Care must be taken at all times, so please read our cautions before using any heat product.
